Highlands
Meall Dubh is a traditional croft cottage with fantastic views of the coastal and mountain scenery of Assynt. It is set in a walled and fenced garden and was renovated and insulated to make a clean, cosy and comfortable place to stay. The downstairs accommodation comprises a living room and well equipped dining kitchen, both with log burners (logs provided), a good-sized hall for storing coats and shoes and a shower room fitted with WC, basin and shower unit. Upstairs is a bathroom with WC, basin and bath and a spacious landing, with a double (king-size) bedroom and a twin bedroom. Storage heaters provide ambient heating which can be supplemented by convector heaters in the bedrooms. Good quality, all-cotton bed linen and towels are provided. The area and the settings are spectacular and you can spend days exploring the area. No matter what your ability, there are drives, walks and climbs in a variety of surroundings. 5 beautiful sandy beaches are found within a very short drive: spectacular Achmelvich, Culkein, Stoer, Clachtoll or Clashnessie. Both Clachtoll and Achmelvich are popular for swimming, canoeing and windsurfing and Achmelvich has wonderful rock pools at low tide. In less than 5 minutes walk from the cottage you are on Raffin's own rocky beach. If you are lucky you will catch sight of an otter or basking shark, whales or even dolphins. Alternatively, you can walk the mile along the quiet single track road to the Lighthouse.
