Life’s a Beach – Scotland’s Best Beaches

Scotland is currently in the midst of an incredible heatwave – we know, we can’t believe it either! Now that we can say we have officially hit the summer months, it’s time to look at booking a getaway and Scotland is the place to be!

Don’t be fooled thinking you have to fly abroad for beautiful blue seas and white sandy beaches – Scotland has all of that, and more, waiting for you! Sure, we might not be able to guarantee the climate throughout the summer, however, Scotland’s spectacular scenery can often make up for that downfall!

Luskentyre Beach

Luskentyre Beach is one of the largest and most stunning beaches on the Isle of Harris  On some occasions, you’d be fooled to think you were looking at the Maldivian sea because of just how blue the sea can be!  Planning a visit here? The Old Crofthouse is only a 20-minute drive away from Luskentyre Beach and is perfect for couples, a small group or family of four!

West Sands Beach

West Sands beach, located in St Andrews, is most famously known from the opening scene of the film ‘Chariots of Fire’. This beach has a 2-mile long stretch of sand with the well known, St Andrews Links Golf Course – backing straight onto it. Great places to stay are Fordyce Court, only a 9-minute drive away, and Fife Cottages, just 15 minutes away.

The Silver Sands of Morar

The Silver Sands of Morar in the West Highlands are hugely popular for their beautiful sandy beaches that line the coast from Arisaig to Morar. From there, you can enjoy spectacular views of the small islands dotted around such as Rum, Eigg, Muck and Canna. Visit here and stay in some great accommodation close by such as Ach Na Skia Croft  and Sandholm Cottages

Berneray Beach

Last but not least, another spectacular beach to visit is Berneray Beach located on the Isle of Berneray in the Outer Hebrides. This beach was once mistaken for an exotic Thai resort due to its stunning white sand and beautiful backdrop. Berneray Beach also has a lot to offer with many fantastic outdoor activities that you can get involved in. If this area interests you, Tigh-na-Mara is only a short drive away and is set in a stunning location right by the water where you can enjoy great views!
